There has been quite a bit of prep work as surgeons prepare for Friday's surgery. The surgery is expected to be long and very complicated. The goal of that surgery is to repair facial and cranial structures. Although Mike continues to exhibit great vitals, no signs of infection and continues to breathe on his own, he is still in critical condition. In preparation for the surgery he has had various types of brain scans and the surgeons are working up a 3D model of his brain so they can get a really good idea of what they may encounter.
On a lighter note, we were able to bring a CD player to Mike's bedside to play some classical music and he seemed to respond to it because we noticed a quick spike in his pulse. It was either that or the relief he experienced when he reached for his naughty bits and found out that alas! they were all still there. Either way we are happy for him! He will be thoroughly embarrassed that I included this little piece of trivia but the way I look at it, as long as a guy is doing the manhood check, it's all good!
Many of you have started emailing via the BLOG with wonderful words of support and offers to help in any way you can. I have passed all of this on to Kim. I am trying to add a FAQs section to this BLOG because there are a few questions that come up quite often:
Can I send flowers, gifts?
Not yet, we will let you know as soon as that is possible.
Can I visit?
I will pass your request on to Kim/Medical Team and I will get back to you with their response.
Finally, please know that we tell Mike on a daily basis who has emailed or called. We try to give him current events (he is an avid swimmer so Olympics news has been great this week), we read to him and have even told him a few jokes (stress the word "few" as we are both very bad joke deliverers).
Hasta the next one!
Jackie
