Rollercoaster

Today has been a day of mixed emotions and events. Mike has developed a small infection in the brain (aka meningitis) but they have caught it early and are giving him antibiotics. Most of you probably reacted as I did (meningitis, what??!!!). However, apparently it's a generic term for infection of the brain membrane and the medical team seem to be confident in treating it and the fact that Mike will have surgery again on Thursday. They are also keeping him nice and cool as hypothermia seems to have positive effects on TBI patients. We always knew you were a cool customer Mike!

Mike continues to be calmer than prior to surgery but I can only imagine he is exhausted from so much invasive work and recovery. This is another surgery week and it's probably best that he rest and store his strength for Thursday.

He is currently off all sedation and painkillers and no longer has the ICP monitor (small tube which measured intracranial pressure in his head).

On a much lighter note, he had a shave today, and he's growing a nice head of hair. I don't recall a time when I saw him with anything less (more?) than a high and tight.

Once again thanks for all your kindness!

Jackie
