DONE!
Here's the skinny: Surgery was done by 4:30 PM, considerably sooner than anticipated. The neurosurgeon indicated they had accomplished enough for today. The rest of the work can be accomplished next week during surgery #2 by going in through the nose and mouth and thereby not exposing the brain longer than necessary. Doctors seemed very pleased with the outcome and optimistic.
On another note: he looks great! We got to see him for a few minutes post op and he was moving his left arm and both legs. He squeezed Kim's hand, his ICP (intracranial pressure) and pulse were all good. They will be doing a CT scan tonite. Brain swelling is present but normal.
As a mere bystander I am blown away! I was expecting something completely different. Mike's strength and fighting spirit are very much present.
Kim thanks all of you for all your prayers and constant stream of good wishes, words of encouragement and loving friendship.
